My Approach

My practice centers around adults with ADHD and autism, many of whom went undiagnosed in childhood (or are just learning about potential neurodivergence). Further, I have experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, and those in geek/gaming communities. I believe in the power of community that is built on shared values and experiences. If you identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ and/or gaming communities and would like to explore these identities as part of your therapy experience, or you would simply prefer a clinician within these communities, we may be a good fit.

I believe in the integration of social justice in therapy, and work to recognize and acknowledge the impacts of diversity, privilege, discrimination, and culture on an individual’s experience. When setting treatment goals and exploring values, the impact of an individual’s identities and the intersections of those identities are always considered.

Therapy

Therapy is a collaborative process between client and therapist. In our work together, I strive to build an authentic therapeutic relationship where we can work together to identify your values, and take actionable steps towards positive change in your life. I strongly believe in the importance of common therapeutic factors, including empathy, authenticity, and clear expectations. I leverage my training in cognitive behavioral modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in partnership with my clients to identify your values and take active steps towards change.

Types of Therapy

I draw from several evidence-based approaches to individual therapy, including those listed below. The specific approaches are tailored to each client and their preferences and needs.

  • Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

  • Trauma-focused (Cognitive Processing (CPT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), & Prolonged Exposure Therapy)

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Solution Focused Brief (SFBT)

Assessment

Assessment and diagnosis can be powerful tools to better understand yourself and how you fit into the world. I believe it’s imperative to collaborate with you during the assessment process, and use a variety of assessment tools to ensure the most accurate diagnosis. I understand that many neurodivergent teens and adults have experiences being dismissed or misunderstood by providers, and may have a history of diagnoses that do not effectively explain their experiences.
