PopulationsMy Approach
I work with a diverse caseload helping clients to build meaningful relationships not only those in their lives but their own central sense of self and system of values. In particular, I enjoy finding ways to bring geek and gamer cultural interests into therapy and utilize the things that bring people joy while providing a safe, supportive environment to explore their own life experiences while building on the supports that have helped them navigate their lives. I take a humanistic approach to counseling that encourages honesty and openness, since we're ultimately all just people trying to figure it out day by day.
I believe in therapy as a collaborative and explorative process, with the client as the expert in their own experience, aided by honest, authentic, and direct communication. I have worked extensively with neurodivergent (Autism, ADHD, 2E) individuals and take a strength based approach to working with what keeps people going.
Therapy
I believe in therapy as a collaborative relationship between therapist and client. At the core of therapeutic progress, is the ability to engage authentically in ways that help you to build confidence in yourself, your relationships, and your ability to use your strengths and values in moving towards your goals. I use an integrative approach, leveraging therapeutic interventions for varying modalities (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and others) to tailor the therapeutic experience to what best suits your unique needs, while also emphasizing the role of the client as expert in their own lives. All of this while still trying to leverage personal interests, passions, and humor to make therapy an enriching and approachable experience.
Types of Therapy
I use an integrative approach, pulling from several evidence-based approaches, including those listed below. These approaches are then tailored to specific client preferences and needs and applied using a strength-based conceptualization to build lasting supports during and beyond the therapeutic process.
