My Approach

I work with an ever-expanding variety of peoples, though my expertise lies in work with neurodivergent and queer folks, and I really enjoy working with those with that identity intersection as I share that lived experience. I am most effective working with people who are creative and ready to reflect, learn new skills, and make changes because of a life transition or past trauma (from many sources: family-related, traumatic events, addiction, chronic illness/disability).

You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself and others. Perhaps you’re burned out, low on health points, and life keeps throwing you side quests when you want to focus on the main storyline. As a queer, neurodivergent counselor, I know how hard it can be to balance the grind of daily life with the bigger picture of who you want to become. Our future actions require resolving events in the past and learning how to be in the present. I see therapy as a collaborative process to explore the story of your life across all time. It is a space to combine your strengths, passions, and interests with the practice of self-compassion, to experiment with new ways of thinking and feeling. My style is trauma-informed and affirming, with the focus on discovery of what personally helps you heal, grow, and thrive.

I am a lifelong nerd and storyteller with a passion for exploring different cultures and perspectives – in life and games. If you want a therapist who values your individual identity, validates your lived experience, and helps you create change, I'd be honored to adventure and work with you!

Therapy

I aim to work together to find what fits each person I work with. I believe it is important to find a foundational framework of works and ideas that makes sense to you and helps you make meaning of your life, the challenges you face, and ultimately, connect to yourself and your values.

I commonly utilize overlapping principles, such as mindfulness and present-moment awareness, acceptance of internal experiences (e.g., thoughts, feelings, emotions, beliefs), self-compassionate reframing to challenge shame, and engagement in effort to make meaning of your past, present, and future. This often happens through a combination of talk therapy, in-session practice of coping strategies (e.g., grounding exercises, breathing, visualization, body awareness, creative expression), and collaborative problem-solving when practical or structural solutions are needed.

I’m an integrative therapist, which means I pull from several evidence-based approaches to individual therapy, including those listed here. The specific approaches are tailored to each client and their preferences and needs.
