There is more and more information about ADHD coming out every day, and it can be hard to sort through the noise to find reliable sources. Here are some of our favorite resources at Respec, that we have found to be helpful for ourselves and our clients.

Books

The ADHD Field Guide For Adults by Cate Osborn and Erik Gude

The ADHD Field Guide is a great primer for adults with ADHD, whether late-diagnosed or not. It’s approachable, with key words defined in call-out boxes and topics addressed in a skimmable Q&A format. This book also serves as a great introduction for experiences and comorbidities relevant to people with ADHD - ADHD and hormones, physical intimacy, and substance use are all discussed as well.  

How to ADHD An Insider's Guide to Working with Your Brain (and not against it) by Jessica McCabe

Jessica has been a staple advocate in the ADHD community for over a decade, and her book, How to ADHD (same name as her YouTube channel) is a mix of autobiographical stories about Jessica’s experience with ADHD, as well as insights and practical tools pulled  from research and her community.  

The Anti-Planner: How to Get Sh*t Done When You Don’t Feel Like It by Dani Donovan

The Anti-Planner is an illustrated workbook of tools and techniques to support your productivity without shame. It’s meant to be used as a “fire extinguisher,” filled with strategies that generally require little preparation or planning ahead of time. 

How to Keep House While Drowning by KC Davis

How to Keep House While Drowning provides accessible and practical strategies to support a functional home that works with your brain. This book is designed to help you identify challenges getting in your way and setting up systems without shame.

Podcasts

Ologies Podcast - (ADHD episodes) by Alie Ward

The first episode is a good introduction to research on ADHD, while the second episode features ADHD advocates and discusses individual experiences and strategies. 

Sorry, I Missed This: The Everything Guide to ADHD and Relationships by Cate Osborne

This podcast is an interview format, where the host, Cate (@Catieosaurus) speaks with experts on topics at the intersection of ADHD and relationships - including online community, navigating new and old relationships, friendships, and conflict.

Organizations

Children and Adults with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD)

CHADD is an advocacy and education organization, with resources for adults, parents, educators, and clinicians. They host a yearly conference, and offer resources around workplace accommodations, common comorbidities, and community connection.
